AnthropicAI's Claude Opus 5.5 is now generally available in GitHub Copilot. It is available for agentic coding, long-running agentic tasks, and knowledge work in the GitHub Copilot app, the CLI, and code.

GitHub's early testing found that Claude Opus 5.5 delivered task resolution comparable to Claude Opus 5 while using significantly fewer steps and tokens, with fast error recovery on multistep tasks.
