Satya Nadella says Autopilot’s AI chief of staff should reach consumers

In an interview with Alex Heath, Satya Nadella said he wants to bring Autopilot’s AI chief of staff into people’s personal lives. Heath wrote that the agent is built on a hardened version of OpenClaw and gets its own computer, workspace, and memory so it can work continuously.

Asked about Microsoft’s consumer strategy, Nadella pointed to more than 100 million consumer subscribers and said, “Autopilot should also go to the consumer side.” According to Heath, Nadella sees consumer agents potentially cutting out today’s middlemen and making that market more zero-sum. In the enterprise, Nadella thinks agents will make the market bigger than cloud “by orders of magnitude.”

A paper from Microsoft and colleagues reports that the best model answers 59.7% of Taste-Bench questions correctly when choosing the better open direction in long engineering and research tasks. Forks decided by later evidence are much harder, a larger reasoning budget does not raise accuracy, and distilling a teacher’s outcome judgment improves held-out SWE-bench Pro success.
