Databricks says it cut an estimated $1.2M a year in AI waste in one hour

Databricks says it found and eliminated an estimated $1.2 million a year in wasted AI spend and lost productivity in one hour. Using Unity Gateway tracing and Genie One, the company identified seven small MCP-server bugs.

Databricks says those bugs were driving about $499,000 a year in wasted tokens, roughly 12,000 engineering hours a year of agent wait time, and 1,409 tool errors in a single 24-hour window. Genie One turned the trace data into a ranked list of fixes, and a coding agent helped complete the work within the hour. Databricks describes the process in how it cut wasted AI agent spend.
