Claude Sonnet 5.5 is generally available in GitHub Copilot

Anthropic’s Claude Sonnet 5.5 is now generally available in GitHub Copilot. GitHub says it is designed for well-scoped everyday work such as building features and fixing bugs, and that it can be used in the GitHub Copilot app, the CLI, and code.

In GitHub’s early testing, Sonnet 5.5 matched Sonnet 5 on coding tasks while using significantly fewer steps, tokens, and tool calls, and it finished tasks noticeably faster. Details are in GitHub’s changelog, Claude Sonnet 5.5 in GitHub Copilot.
